Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at brows@ritual.ca if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Microblading or eyebrow embroidery is a semi permanent tattoo method that lasts up to 18 months. The therapist uses a tool to make fine hair like strokes with pigment in the skin which gives the illusion natural hair and a fuller more defined brow.

 If you:

have over-plucked your eyebrow hair

have gaps or scars where the hair has not grown back

are suffering from Alopecia (hair loss), weak or light hair

want a particular shape or fuller looking eyebrows

Your Embroidery will last as long as it’s maintained. Untouched, the ink will last 1-3 years.

Four to six weeks after your first session a touch up is necessary to define strokes and re do areas that may have faded during initial healing. This first touch up is included in the price if performed within 3 months of initial service. Any touch ups after this are subject to fees.

There is some discomfort associated with the procedure. A topical anesthetic is used to numb the area we recommend taking two Tylenols one hour before your service to ensure a totally pain free service. Some say the sensation is similar to getting threaded.

Yes, cosmetic embroidery looks as if you have filled in your brows with pencil but a little softer and more muted. Immediately after the treatment the colour will appear stronger and darker for

the first 7-14 days. After that, you can lose approximately 50-60% of complete colour during the healing process within 7-14 days.

  •  Discontinue use of any retinol products one week prior to the service.
  • No tanning 4 days prior to service
  • No waxing or tinting 3 days before
  • Do not take Advil for 24 hours prior to appointment (Tylenol is okay)
  • Wash your hair, you will need to refrain from this for a few days after
  • Please note that you will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle
  • No caffeine 3 hours prior to service

  •  Avoid Sun Exposure
  • Avoid any exfoliants during the healing process (7-14 days)
  • Avoid swimming pools, the beach, steam rooms and saunas during the healing process (7-14 days).
  • no picking or peeling your brows as you may remove pigment
  • No facials, Botox, chemical treatments, or exfoliation for 4 weeks after treatment
  • Apply after-care products recommended by us.
  • Avoid washing the area in the first 24 fours

The procedure takes approximately about two hours including numbing time. Please allow a solid two and a half hour window for your appointment. We likely won’t need that much time, but this isn’t something we want to rush.

No. There’s no downtime associated with the treatment. Redness and swelling will dissipate within an hour after your service. Your brows will appear darker initially, but not so dark that you will be prevented from your activities of daily living.

Healing time varies from individual to individual. Usually, it takes about a week to ten days for the epithelial crust to form and slough off. Your skin will be considered healed after that happens. Then, the pigment takes some time to settle into the skin. A good month should pass before we consider the process complete.

icroblading is a two step treatment, consisting of an initial procedure and then a touch up six to eight weeks after. After we take your before photo, we shape your eyebrows and decide together on the best shape and colour. Shortly after that, a topical anesthetic will be administered to ensure comfort. Once you’re numb, the custom blended pigment is deposited.

During healing, it’s normal to experience some pigment loss; this is why we have the touch up in place. The process is considered to be complete 4 weeks after the second touch up.
